ABSTRACT
This presentation treats multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems that employ multiple transmit and receive antennas to increase the data rate and achieve signal diversity in fading multipath channels. The performance of MIMO systems is affected by two types of interference. One is intersymbol interference due to channel multipath dispersion. The other is interchannel interference due to the simultaneous transmission from the
multiple transmit antennas. The focus of the presentation is on equalization and interference mitigation in point-to-multipoint (broadcast) MIMO systems in which the channel characteristics are known at the transmitter. Both linear and nonlinear equalization methods are described.
