Αν οι οδηγοί για iPhone unlock στα αγγλικά δεν είναι αρκετοί για εσάς μην ανησυχείτε. Οδηγίες στα ελληνικά κυκλοφορούν ήδη για το Mac OS X και είναι τόσο καλές που τα παιδιά αξίζουν συγχαρητήρια. Άντε, τι πειρμένετε και δεν κάνετε κλικ για να δείτε το JesusPhone ελεύθερο;

Να τι έγινε στο event του Λονδίνου!
Well, here you go, the results to the Apple Special Event today in the UK….
# iPhone coming to the U.K. November 9th
# Will cost £269 and be available from Apple Retail stores and the Carphone Warehouse. 8GB model, EDGE not 3G (so the same model as the US). iTunes WiFi Music Store will of course come with the iPhone.
# O2 is the exclusive carrier
# Contracts cost £35, £45 or £55 a month and include unlimited (within fair-use) WiFi at The Cloud hotspots and EDGE & GPRS on O2.
I’m sure that “fair-use” line is going to cause quite a bit o controversy.

Report claims iPhone will go 3G, gain GPS in early 2008
A new report claims that Apple is already aligning component suppliers for a major iPhone overhaul due early next year that will package, among other things, support for faster 3G networks.
The rumor, which was accompanied by claims that the handset would also include features like global positioning for navigation services (GPS), was reported Monday by The Street.com, which has little to no track record in predicting Apple's future business moves.
The claims also arrive in stark contrast to comments made by Apple chief executive Steve Jobs early Tuesday morning regarding a timeframe for an Apple-branded 3G handset.
While introducing the iPhone for UK customers, Jobs was asked by reporters about his firm's decision to forgo 3G access in the version of the iPhone that will be made available in the region later this November.
"[3G] chipsets work well apart from power. They're real power hogs. Most phones now have battery lives of 2 to 3 hours and that's due to these very power-hungry 3G chipsets," he explained. "[iPhone] has 8 hours of talktime life. That's really important when you start to use the Internet and want to use the phone to listen to music. We've got to see the battery lives for 3G get back up into the 5+ hour range. Hopefully we'll see that late next year."
Nevertheless, The Street believes the 3G iPhone will arrive "sometime in the first quarter" of 2008 and include assisted GPS chips from Broadcom's Global Locate unit and power amplifiers from TriQuint.

Apple today announced that not only will the iPhone launch in the UK on Nov. 9th, but it will also launch in Germany on the 9th, via T-Mobile.
T-Mobile Germany partnering with Apple on the iPhone is probably the worst kept secret in the world, since T-Mobile has seemed to slip up on more than one occasion, accidentally releasing this information several times before today’s announcement.
The price for the iPhone in Germany will be €399, and T-Mobile promises, “By the end of 2007, T-Mobile will be the only network operator in Germany to offer EDGE throughout its entire GSM network”. So, the world wide invasion of the iPhone continues…what country will be next? Will it be yours?!?!
http://www.applegazette.com/iphone/appl ... n-nov-9th/
“You can expect a 3G iPhone later next year”…that sentence comes straight from the mouth of Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the “Mum is no longer the word” event which was held yesterday in London.
When pressed about the lack of 3G in the current iPhone, Jobs cited the strain the chipset puts on the battery as the primary reason for not including it in the first generation iPhone. All of you that need 3G to get by can expect to see the next version of the iPhone, including 3G, sometime in 2008.

Apple today issued the following statement:
Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone’s software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed. Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update, containing many new features including the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store (
http://www.itunes.com), later this week. Apple strongly discourages users from installing unauthorized unlocking programs on their iPhones. Users who make unauthorized modifications to the software on their iPhone violate their iPhone software license agreement and void their warranty. The permanent inability to use an iPhone due to installing unlocking software is not covered under the iPhone’s warranty.
It sounds pretty clear to me that Apple has no intention of letting this unlocking business slide, and is going so far as to brick iPhones that are unlocked. If I were you, and I had one unlocked that didn’t have to be - I’d restore that bad boy to its original state….otherwise, you may be kissing it goodbye.

PS: IPhone rules :p

Sure, we can all talk about how all those folks that unlocked their iPhones may be screwed (and guys, I feel sorry for you if it happens - but don’t say I didn’t warn you), but - instead - let’s talk about another interesting part of that little announcement from Apple yesterday:
Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update, containing many new features including the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store (
http://www.itunes.com), later this week.
Many new features huh?
Is the iPhone getting primed for a holiday-timed software overhaul?
Looks like it. So - just what can we expect to see from this software upgrade? Here’s my moderately educated guesses:
1) Wi-Fi iTunes Store - that’s the only thing we know for sure.
2) MMS - Seems kind of stupid that we don’t have it already, and some iPhone users have been getting emails about it - so…maybe.
3) iChat - It’s already appeared on AT&T Questionnaires - so it seems likely that we’ll see it as one of the “many”
4) improved Safari - I hope so, because it’s been crashing on me quite a bit recently
5) Copy and Paste - I sure hope so. Copy and Paste is probably my most wanted feature - ahead of everything else on this list.
So, those are my guesses. What do you think?

Apple iPhone update 1.1.1 offers louder volume, adds iTunes
Apple Inc. on Thursday released iPhone software update version 1.1.1, which adds access to the Wi-Fi iTunes Music Store, the ability to increase the handset's speaker and earpiece volume, TV output, and several other features.

Ever since the iPhone 1.1.1 update, I’ve been having problems with my iPhone. My wife has too. So has Drew from TVJab. That’s officially everyone I know with an iPhone besides you guys. So, it’s time for me to ask - are you having problems with your iPhone?
Here’s what’s happening to us:
Ever since the update, the iPhone has had some real hanging issues. I’ve had to restart the iPhone numerous. As has Drew…as has my wife. So I can tell it’s not an isolated incident. It seems like it might have something to do with the Wi-Fi, but I could be wrong. It seems to have happened to me when the iPhone tries to find Wi-Fi hotspots when I’m out of the house.
Sometimes the phone will freeze up, other times, the internet will just stop working (whether I’m on Edge or a local Wi-Fi Hotspot). The iPhone will have to be restarted before everything works right again.
This is becoming a pretty regular thing with the 3 of us, and I’m starting to get frustrated with it. I’m looking forward to the next update more than ever…mainly because I want this to be fixed. I’m afraid all this “fighting the hackers” mess is causing Apple to rush out updates…and may be causing more problems than its worth.

In a new posting to Apple.com's Hot News webpage, chief executive Steve Jobs has confirmed plans to release a software developer's kit (SDK) for iPhone by February that will allow developers to write native applications for the touch-screen handset as well as the iPod touch.
Here's an unedited copy of Jobs' note from the Apple Hot News page:
Third Party Applications on the iPhone
Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February. We are excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users. With our revolutionary multi-touch interface, powerful hardware and advanced software architecture, we believe we have created the best mobile platform ever for developers.
It will take until February to release an SDK because we’re trying to do two diametrically opposed things at once—provide an advanced and open platform to developers while at the same time protect iPhone users from viruses, malware, privacy attacks, etc. This is no easy task. Some claim that viruses and malware are not a problem on mobile phones—this is simply not true. There have been serious viruses on other mobile phones already, including some that silently spread from phone to phone over the cell network. As our phones become more powerful, these malicious programs will become more dangerous. And since the iPhone is the most advanced phone ever, it will be a highly visible target.
Some companies are already taking action. Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer. While this makes such a phone less than “totally open,” we believe it is a step in the right direction. We are working on an advanced system which will offer developers broad access to natively program the iPhone’s amazing software platform while at the same time protecting users from malicious programs.
We think a few months of patience now will be rewarded by many years of great third party applications running on safe and reliable iPhones.
Steve
P.S.: The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch. [Oct 17, 2007]

Επίσης, τρέχουν το Unlocker(το προγραμματακι που ξεκλειδώνει τις δυνατότητες του-κάτι που είναι παράνομο προς το παρόν αφού υπάρχουν εμπορικές συμφωνίες απο πίσω), που σημαίνει οτι οι καταναλωτές θα αντιμετωπίσουν προβλήματα, σε περίπτωση που αναβαθμίσουν το firmware τους στο μέλλον.

Apple could drop its current distributor and reseller for Greece and Cyprus as the company is in talks with another Greek retailer, sources told MacScoop.
Germanos to replace Rainbow Computer
Apple's current IMC (Independant Marketing Company) in Greece, Rainbow Computer, could see its contract terminated within the next few months in favor of Germanos, a major player of Greece's consumer electronics retail market.
In addition to its Apple-related operations, the 27 year old company Rainbow Computer is providing IT services, training and telecom/networking infrastructure to Greek companies and professionals, its activities also include services and reselling for other platforms than the Macintosh.
We're not sure yet if Germanos will be an IMC as it's the case for Rainbow or just Apple's biggest reseller for Greece as we had no word from sources on the possibility that Apple brings its own presence in Greece through an "Apple Hellas" or "Apple Greece" subsidiary.
More than a decade of un-heard complains
Apple enthusiasts in Greece have been complaining at Rainbow's poor performance for more than a decade. More specifically, the Greek distributor provides shipping times that could easily reach one or two months for a Mac, poor support, expensive Greek OS localization and very marginal retail presence compared to what Germanos can provide.
Last year, Dimistris Karakatsanis, one of these Greek Apple enthusiasts even decided to launch a site called "WeWantAppleGreece.com". The site is highlighting all the problems a Greek can face when he wants to buy or obtain support for an Apple product and is asking Apple through an online petition to improve the situation for Apple's Greek customers and eventually bring its own presence in the country.
Moreover, back in 2004, while Greece was hosting the Olympic Games, we had our own anecdotal experience with a Rainbow "Apple Store Demo Centre" when we visited Akadimia's Street store. After trying to buy an accessory from this store, the staff told us that if we wanted to buy something, we had to create an account on the Greek online store then order it from there. As the name suggested, it wasn't a store but just a demo center with no ability to sell anything.
But Greeks started hoping for a better future on late January, when Apple Europe's CEO was quoted on an Italian online publication saying "many things will change in Greece within the next six months". Now it looks obvious that one of the actions that Mr. Cagni took was to look for another distribution deal for Greece.
Cosmote could win the iPhone deal
With less certainty, sources dropped us a second hint regarding the possible carrier that will sell the iPhone in Greece. The sources notice Germanos' very tight links with Cosmote which is Greece's biggest telecom company for Internet, mobile and fixed communications. Cosmote actually holds a strategic stake in Germanos which is already distributing all the products of the telecom company in Greece.
The deal with the retailer could pave the way for an Apple-Cosmote Deal for the distribution of the iPhone in Greece through Germanos' retail stores and with Cosmote contracts.
